As Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly integrated into everyday life, its rapid adoption among young people – especially secondary school students – has sparked concern among educators. From AI-assisted essays to chatbot-driven homework, questions about over-dependence and ethical usage are becoming more pressing.
In response, Pristine SACC Education and Technology Initiative, a youth-led, women-focused nonprofit and a new partner of the AI Skills Coalition, launched its flagship program, Logic Over Code. This initiative matches the Coalition’s efforts to ensure equitable access to AI tools and knowledge, with a particular focus on underrepresented communities. By targeting Nigerian secondary school students – especially girls and young women – Pristine SACC is addressed to an audience that resonates with the Coalition’s focus on inclusivity.
The Logic Over Code project is not about rejecting AI but understanding it. The program encourages students to harness the power of AI without losing their critical thinking, creativity, or academic integrity. It aims to build a foundation of responsible AI usage early on – before dependency sets in.
The pilot phase, implemented in January 2025, reached over 500 students across select secondary schools, demonstrating the program’s impact. The feedback was resounding: students are eager to learn more, and teachers are calling for broader adoption. Building on this success, the next phase – launching in September 2025 – aims to reach 2,500 students over six weeks, contributing directly to the Coalition’s goal of educating 10,000 learners globally by the end of 2025.
A Curriculum for Ethical AI Citizens
The program’s six core modules are designed to cultivate informed and responsible tech users:
- Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
- Digital Literacy and Online Safety
- AI in Education: Challenges and Opportunities
- Principles of Responsible AI Usage
- Critical Thinking vs. AI Dependence
- The Future of AI
Each module mirrors the Coalition’s focus on accessible and ethical AI education. The hybrid delivery model – which combines in-person sessions with structured online learning via Google Classroom – ensures flexibility and broad reach, while trained AI Coaches provide personalized mentorship.
Pristine SACC envisions a future where young Africans are not just users of technology but thoughtful shapers of it. Through Logic Over Code, they are advancing the Coalition’s vision of an equitable, innovative, and ethically aware digital future – one where communities worldwide can harness AI’s potential without compromising their autonomy or values.
